Founders is proud to present Smile: It’s A New Kenya, the first N.Y. solo show by photographer S. Kamau Mucoki, opening Saturday October 24th, 2009 at 7pm.

S. Kamau Mucoki is a street photographer and photoblogger who has been documenting life in San Francisco and New York. H
Kamau’s images have been featured in the New York City Photobloggers series at the SoHo Apple Store, as well as in Kwani?, Business Daily Africa, and Em-Path Magazine.

Founders is a project space dedicated to photography, fashion, art expositions, music, and interdisciplinary projects located 3 blocks off the Bedford L. We openly welcome friendliness, sharing, imagination, collaboration, communication and creation in an effort to produce a richer dialogue and a more interesting cultural environment.

about africa.visual_media:
this blog is primarily about the culture of the african diaspora. the arts (particularly music) is where we as africans stand on par with or above everyone else. in that space there are so many people (african or not) documenting, interpreting, re-interpreting our culture in photography, film, video, print. i mostly use this as a space to collect all the information people, images, ideas that i come across on the web and elsewhere.
